So it has been raining here on Anna Maria Island for 3 days straight! What is there to do you ask if you can’t go to the beach? Rainy Day Activities on Anna Maria Island:
 
For starters, HOP on the Anna Maria Island Trolley and head over to the Anna Maria Island Historical Society Museum and Historical Park on Pine Avenue. Here you can learn about Anna Maria Island’s rich history, it’s early settlers, check out the City Jail and visit the Cottage that sat on the City Pier and fell into the Bay. Admission is Free and note that they are closed in September and will re-open October 1. Settler’s bread is sold every at the Anna Maria Historical Park from Wednesday from Jan.-March.
 
 
 
After the visiting the Anna Maria Historical museum head on out and enjoy a Grouper Sandwich at the Sandbar Restaurant just down the street at 100 Spring Avenue. Check out the new remodel and sit inside the beautiful new dining room and watch the rain and waves from the large windows while having a glass of wine and a nice piece of fresh grouper.
 
If you want a really good hamburger check out Duffy’s on Marina Drive. Coldest Beer and best Burger and you get to meet the locals on Anna Maria Island.
 
Take a relaxing afternoon and perhaps treat yourself to a relaxing Massage, Manicure or Pedicure at one of the local salons on Anna Maria Island:

Visit some of the unique local shops on Pine Avenue in Anna Maria and on Bridge Street in Bradenton Beach: Shiny Fish Emporium, Bella by Sea, Pink and Navy, Sand dollar, OR Sea Haag Nautical Shop on Cortez Road and some of the local shell shops. Head into Bradenton to visit the Ellenton Prime Outlets in Parrish on exit 224 off I-75 or hit the Red Barn Flea Market in Bradenton for fresh vegetables and a variety of discount booths and specialty shops.

Maritime Museum on Cortez Road
 
Desoto National Memorial Park in NW Bradenton ~ visitor reception area, films and indoor museum South Florida Museum downtown Bradenton. Here you can visit Snooty, Manatee County’s oldest captive Manatee in the Aquarium.
 
Sarasota Classic Car Museum near the Airport in Sarasota
 
Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota
 
Mote Marine Aquarium on the South end of Longboat Key-Home of the world’s largest squid!
 
Mixon Fruit Farms in East Bradenton ~ pick up some fresh fruit and jams and see the farms.
 
It’s always just fun to stay in and relax! Remember the beach is fun to walk right after a fresh rain!
